Aquaness Chemical, a division of Baker Petrolite, decided to consolidate their Calgary-based chemical inventory at Fort Storage in Airdrie AB, giving them an end-to-end view of their inventory storage, processing and handling from a single location. |
Customer Snapshot
Aquaness Chemical is a division of Baker Petrolite, with an office in Calgary Alberta. Aquaness had chemical product inventory distributed between a number of warehouse locations, including Fort Storage in Airdrie and their own warehouse, prior to making the decision in 2001 to consolidate all their inventory storage, management and distribution with Fort Storage at their Airdrie Alberta location.
Aquaness’s then Sales Director Ron Maltman estimates that Fort Storage managed over 40 different chemical products in varying quantities, with 1,000 drums on hand at any given time from their Airdrie facility in southern Alberta. Fort took over not only the storage and management of this inventory, but also took on responsibility for their on-demand shipment needs, which often occurred daily from their Airdrie location.
Why make this move? Maltman explains: “We got a clear view of our inventory and the status of our orders by consolidating everything with Fort. Additionally, by centralizing this aspect of our operations with Fort, we gained a clear view of the costs associated with inventory management, improved our customer service and increased the efficiency of our inventory management function.” |

“I was always impressed with the reliability of the service we had with Fort Storage and their fast response times. I am a believer that you get what you pay for; while there may be companies out there who might offer warehousing for less, the service we got from Fort was incomparable. I never had any questions about the inventory, whether something had been shipped or received. I was highly satisfied with Fort’s attention to the logistics and the quality and timeliness of information both in to and out to customers. I would highly recommend Fort Storage to anyone looking for an end-to-end industrial storage, logistics and distribution partner.”
